Wey ( Chinese : 魏) is a trademark of the Chinese automobile manufacturer Great Wall . The brand was presented in November 2016 at the Guangzhou Auto Show . Sales of the first vehicles started at the end of April 2017. The brand is positioned as the Group's luxury brand.

Naming

The name of the brand is derived from the Chinese state of Wei , which was part of the Warring States' era . Great Wall is located in Baoding in Hebei Province , which was once part of Wei State.

At the Guangzhou Auto Show 2016, Wey presented three concept vehicles in SUV format with the vehicles W01 , W01 eAD and W02 . Takes over the drive in all three vessels out of the Haval H7 known 170 kW (231 hp) two-liter gasoline engine , and this in W01 eAD with two electric motors is combined. This plug-in hybrid achieves a system output of 268 kW (364 hp) and accelerates the SUV to 100 km / h in 6.9 seconds. The electric range is 50 kilometers.

The Wey VV7, the brand's first production vehicle, made its debut at Auto Shanghai in April 2017 . This came to dealers in China on April 27, 2017.

In September 2017, another SUV came onto the market with the Wey VV5 . This is positioned under the VV7.

The brand also had its European premiere at the IAA in Frankfurt am Main in September 2017 . In addition to the presentation of the VV5 and VV7, the brand presented a 270 kW (367 hp) plug-in hybrid with the P8 and an electrically powered concept vehicle with the XEV . However, sales in Europe are not planned until 2021.

The Wey VV6 based on the VV5 debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2017 and has been on sale in China since August 2018.

The Wey P8 GT was presented at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2018 and is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2019.

The four-door SUV coupé Wey VV7 GT based on the VV7 was presented in mid-2019 . At the IAA in September 2019, Wey also presented a version of this series refined by Brabus .

The two concept vehicles Wey-S and Wey-X were also presented at the IAA 2019 .

At the Chengdu Auto Show in July 2020, Wey presented the Wey Tank 300 off-road vehicle .
