Xian Qinhuan Automobile , previously Qinchuan Machinery Works and Xian Qinchuan Development , was an automobile manufacturer from the People's Republic of China .

Company history

The company Qinchuan Machinery Works of Xi'an was one of Norinco . In 1987 or 1990 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was initially exclusively Qinchuan . Other brand names were Xian from 1990 and Beifan from 1992. The time of the change of name to Xian Qinchuan Development is not known. From 1997 it traded as Xian Qinhuan Automobile . Production ended in 2003 when BYD took over 77% of the company's shares.

The first model was the Qinchuan SX 720 , which was later renamed the Bycatch QCJ7050 . Another source calls this model Beifan QCJ 7050 . This little car had an engine of Daihatsu with 547 cc engine capacity and 27.6 PS power. The maximum speed was given as 90 km / h. About 500 vehicles were made from this model.

In 1992 the Qinchuan QCJ 7080 appeared , which was also marketed as Beifan Alto and Xian Alto . Another source gives the name Xian Alto QCJ 7080 and the production time from 1992 to 2001. This was the license production of the Suzuki Alto .

Between 1997 and 1998 the Qinchuan QCJ 7081 with hatchback and Qinchuan QCJ 7082 as a sedan were also built .

The Fuxing QCJ 7085 was also called Beifan Xiao Fuxing QCJ 7085 . Kak Lee from Hong Kong was the designer of the vehicle. The platform , the engine with 800 cc displacement and the gearbox came from the Suzuki Alto built in 1988-1993. The five-door body offered space for four people. One source says it remained a prototype . Another source states that the company presented this model as Bycatch Xiaofuxing QCJ 7085 at the Beijing Motor Show in 1995 and produced it as the Qinchuan Xiaofuxing QCJ 7088 from 1998 to 1999 . Another source confirms the test production from 1998 to 1999 as QCJ 7088 .

In 1999 the prototype QCJ 7090 was presented.

The last model was the Qinchuan Flyer QCJ 7081 presented in 2001 .
