Tongbao was a car brand from the People's Republic of China .
Company history
From 1996 to 1997, Yuanhu Special Vehicle No. 3 works from Anhui province . For 1997, Wuhu Special Vehicle Works from Wuhu is named. In May 2001 there were plans for a collaboration with Worldstar that did not result in any production. In 2003 there was a collaboration with Changan . In December 2004, Tongbao Automobile Co. Ltd. established and the Zongshen Industrial Group created the new company Zongshen Tongbao Automobile Manufacturing Co. Ltd. , in which Tongbao Automobile owned 20% of the shares and the Zongshen Industrial Group the rest. Another source calls it a merger . However, their brand name is Zongshen . In 2008 the marketing of Tongbao brand vehicles ended .

The No. 3 was available from 1996 to 1997. In 1997 the WHW 6400 followed . The bodies of these small cars were made of fiberglass . Of these models, around 100 vehicles were made each year. Another source mentions an engine with 970 cm³ displacement and 32 kW power.
The company also manufactured some Hyundai Accent using the CKD process , which were also marketed as Tongbao.
From 2003, with the help of Changan, small commercial vehicles were produced .
