Shanghai Auto Works
Shanghai Auto Works was a manufacturer of automobiles from the People's Republic of China .
Company history
The company from Shanghai has its origins in a car repair shop founded in 1920. In 1958 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was initially Fenghuang (sometimes called Phoenix ) and from 1964 Shanghai . Around 2000 to 4000 vehicles were built annually, with the maximum of 6010 vehicles in 1984. In that year, production of the model at Shanghai Auto Works also ended, as the production capacity of Shanghai Volkswagen was required. The company is part of SAIC Motor .

Brand name Fenghuang
The Fenghuang was similar to Plymouth models . Its four-cylinder engine developed 78 hp . In 1959, a version with double headlights, thick bumpers and a wide grille appeared . A vehicle with the Chinese registration number 3 * 00691 is shown in several photos. The last version was presented in 1960. It was based on the Mercedes-Benz 220 from the 1950s. Of these, 13 vehicles were created as limousines .
Brand name Shanghai
The Shanghai SH 760 was the same vehicle as the last Fenghuang , only renamed. Its six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2232 cc made 90 hp. In 1974 the Shanghai SH 760 A followed with a revised front and rear, which was produced until 1989. The last versions Shanghai SH 7221 and Shanghai SH 7231 were made by Shanghai Shenlian Special Auto Works until 1993 .
