Meilu ( Chinese  美 露 , Pinyin Měilù  - "beautiful deer") was a car brand from the People's Republic of China . There is also the spelling Meiluo .

Brand history

Jiangbei Machinery Works from Jilin introduced the brand in 1987. Were driven automobiles . The company gave up the brand name in 2002 when it merged. JM Star used it until 2003 when this company was acquired. Shanghai Maple owned by Geely acquired the brand but did not use it.

In 1987 the JJ 720 appeared , which was later renamed to JJ 7050 and JJ 7060 . It was based on the Subaru Rex . A two-cylinder engine from Liuzhou with 644 cm³ displacement and 21 kW output and a three-cylinder engine from Daihatsu with 846 cm³ displacement and 30 kW output are mentioned. The vehicles were 3195 mm long, 1395 mm wide and 1420 mm high. The wheelbase was 2295 mm. The stronger variant had an empty weight of 630 kg. Shenjian offered the same model.

As JJ 7090 was Opel Corsa B markets. It was imported and assembled in the form of CKD kits . In this context, in addition to Jilin Jiangbei Machinery Plant (responsible for assembly), Jiangmen Guangdong Industry and Trade Company (for import and sales) and Guangdong Holdings Limited (for financing) are mentioned. A second source confirms the assembly, while another only mentions the sale. Some sources only give an approximate period, but one source specifies the period from 1993 to 1996. The assembly took place in a factory in Jiangmen in the province of Guangdong instead. Another source says it was a Shenzhen company .

In addition, the Kia Sephia was assembled as JJ 7150 . One source gives the time from 1995 to 1996. No construction time is known for the assembly of the Nissan Sunny as JJ 7091 .

Between 2002 and 2003, three models based on the Citroën ZX were created . These were JJ 7130 , JJ 7131 and JJ 7132 . TJ Innova Engineering & Technology was involved in the design .
