Derek Royle

Derek Royle (born September 7, 1928 in Redditch , Worcestershire , England , † January 23, 1990 in London ) was a British actor .

Life

Royle was trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and performed with Brian Rix at the Whitehall Theater in London's West End in the 1950s . Both later worked together in film and television, including the comedy film Don't Just Lie There, Say Something! , and in numerous television films.

Royle made his television debut in 1959 on the BBC television series The Case of Private Hamp , and made his film debut in 1964 in the thriller The Sicilians . In 1967 he starred as Jolly Jimmy Johnson in the Beatles television film Magical Mystery Tour . 1975 to 1976 he played the title role of Dr. Hogg in the children 's series Hoggs’s Back . Shortly before his death, he was Ernest Leclerc in the sitcom 'Allo' Allo! to see.

He was married to makeup artist Jane Royle from 1953 until his death . The actresses Carol Royle and Amanda Royle emerged from the marriage.
