Derrick Edward Summers (* 19th June 1988 in Southfield , Michigan ) is an American American football - Canadian football - and arena football poker players. He plays the defensive end position for Columbus Destroyers in the Arena Football League (AFL).
Career
Summers played college football at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Rockets from 2006 to 2009 . There he played 36 games, 17 of them from the start, scoring 136 tackles and five sacks .
Summers joined the Jacksonville Sharks in the Arena Football League in 2011 . He led them with eleven sacks and six forced fumbles, helping them win the Arena Bowl XXIV. For his achievements he was elected to the second team All-Arena . In 2012 he scored 10.5 tackles and two sacks before leaving the Sharks to play for the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League (CFL). There he also made the jump into the squad. For the Argonauts, he played eight games, scoring twelve tackles and two sacks. He was released on October 18, 2012, but signed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats five days later . He played two games with the Tiger-Cats. He was released on May 15, 2013. He then went back to the Jacksonville Sharks. In 2014 and 2015 he played for the Spokane Shock . In that time he achieved 87 tackles and 22 sacks. In 2016 he played for the Los Angeles Kiss before joining the Cleveland Gladiators in 2017 . There he was re-elected to the second team All-Arena as middle linebacker . He repeated this in 2018, but as a member of the Albany Empire . For the 2019 season he switched to the Columbus Destroyers .
