Desi Ruge († March 19, 2000 ) was a German writer . Together with Simon Ruge , she wrote several children's books. The couple's best-known work, Cat with Hat , was translated into several languages ​​and filmed in 1982 by the Augsburger Puppenkiste .

Life

Desi Ruge studied drawing , painting and textile design at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin . There she met Simon Ruge, who was training as a graphic designer. They married in Amrum in 1953 .

In 1980, Simon and Desi Ruge published their first joint children's book, Cat with a Hat . It became an international success. The couple wrote four other children's books, including the sequel News from the Hat with a Cat .

Desi Ruge died on March 19, 2000, Simon Ruge in 2013. The couple bequeathed the rights to their joint work to the organization SOS Children's Villages .
