Despina Vavatsi , also in the spelling Despoina Vavatsi ( Greek Δέσποινα Βαβάτση , * May 2, 1978 in Serres ) is a Greek biathlete .

Despina Vavatsi lives in Serres and started for the Club of Serres . In 1993 she started biathlon. The Greek made her international debut at the beginning of the 1999/2000 season in Hochfilzen in the Biathlon World Cup . In the individual, she finished 84th. The first international championship was the Biathlon European Championships 2000 in Kościelisko , where she was 38th in the individual and 42nd in the sprint. Also in 2001 she took part in the EM, which was held in Haute-Maurienne , and reached the ranks 31 in the individual and 46 in the sprint. Shortly afterwards she started at the Biathlon World Championships 2001 in Pokljuka and was there 73rd in the individual and 68th in the sprint. The 68th place in the Sprint was also the best international result they again at their next international championships, the 2002 Olympic Winter Games of Salt Lake City reached in singles. She also finished 70th in the Sprint competitions in Soldier Hollow . After the games, she ended her international career.
