from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German ATSB Football Championship 1933 should be the 14th from the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association oriented German championship in football are. It had to be broken off prematurely after the National Socialists came to power. The last documented games took place on April 9, 1933.

background

With the seizure of power of the Nazis on 30 January 1933, the end of the German workers' sports movement was initiated. After the Reichstag fire on the night of February 27-28 , 1933, the Reich President's decree for the protection of the people and the state was passed, with which the political opponents of the Hitler regime should be eliminated. On May 12, 1933, the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Federation and the associated clubs were banned and dissolved. The members of the ATSB associations were only allowed to join a civil association if they could show two non-communist sponsors .

Scheduled mode and participants

The 17 ATSB district championships could still be completed as usual. The district champions should then determine four participants in the final round at the national level in the regional championship rounds. Only the East German association championship could be played out in full with SV Sturm Grube Marga as the winner. The other three association championships were canceled prematurely and a nationwide final round no longer took place.
