from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German National Bibliography , in the full title German National Bibliography and Bibliography of German-Language Publications Published Abroad (formerly: German Directory of Books or German Bibliography ), is the national bibliography of the Federal Republic of Germany . It has been published by the German National Library (DNB) since 1913 and records the holdings of the deposit copies received there and also publications acquired with a year of publication from 1911.

The German National Bibliography is also available online. Anyone can search for free in the DNB database on their website. It records the library holdings and thus fulfills the statutory mandate of the German National Library for the bibliographic indexing of all publications appearing in Germany. Since 2004, all initial bibliographic entries have been included in the database.
