German Road Cycling Championships 2020

The German road cycling championships of the Elite 2020 are to be held on August 23, 2020, as in the previous year, at the Sachsenring .

The championships were originally planned for June 19-21 in the greater Stuttgart area. Due to the corona pandemic , the date was initially postponed to the period from August 21 to 23. After a federal German ban on major events until the end of August, this date could not initially be maintained.

The championships were canceled at the end of April 2020. A postponement to the year 2021 was planned.

In June 2020, the Association of German Cyclists announced that the championships should now be held on August 23, but at a different location. The route is a 3.5 kilometer long, topographically demanding circuit on the Sachsenring. The women had to complete around 98 (28 laps), the men around 168 kilometers (47 laps), which corresponds to about 2000 meters of altitude.
