German Evangelical Trumpet Day

The German Evangelical Trumpet Day is a meeting of German trumpet choirs that has taken place twice so far. The organizer of this all-German winds meeting is the umbrella organization of the Evangelical Trumpet Service in Germany, founded in 1994 .

Events

Leipzig 2008

The first German Evangelical Trumpet Day took place from May 30th to June 1st, 2008 under the motto "EarsBlickmal!" In Leipzig . It was the largest meeting of its kind in over fifty years with 20,000 participants from over 2,000 trumpet choirs, including international guests. Federal President Horst Köhler was the patron of the event . The opening ceremony took place at noon on May 31, 2008 on Augustusplatz in Leipzig. During the day, brass concerts were given on 25 stages, in many churches and other places. Sunday started with a cross-district morning bubble. The highlight of the entire event was the closing service in the Leipzig Central Stadium , which was also broadcast live by the third ARD television program. The sermon was delivered by the then chairman of the EKD , Bishop Wolfgang Huber . Around 16,000 wind players played a piece specially composed by Traugott Fünfgeld for the occasion and were conducted with the help of video screens . This was an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for the world's largest brass ensemble to make music.

Dresden 2016

From June 3 to 5, 2016, the second German Evangelical Trumpet Day took place in Dresden with around 22,500 participants from around 2,000 choirs under the motto “Air to the top” . The opening ceremonies took place at the same time on Friday evening on the Altmarkt and Neumarkt . Afterwards there were 19 concerts in different churches in Dresden and the surrounding area as well as a night concert on the Altmarkt. On Saturday, a musical relay ran through the city on six routes, and 27 other concerts took place. A special highlight was the evening serenade on the Königsufer and on the Brühl Terrace opposite . On Sunday morning, trombone choirs played simultaneously at 100 locations in the city and the surrounding areas. The final service with around 33,000 participants then took place in the DDV Stadium with the Baden bishop Ulrich Fischer and Margot Käßmann , who also took over the patronage. The MDR broadcast the service live on television.

Hamburg 2024

In March 2019 it was decided that the next German Evangelical Trumpet Day will take place in Hamburg in 2024 .
