The German Natural Stone Archive is the largest collection of its kind in the world with a current inventory of more than 6,000 sample panels of a uniform format.

1500 different rocks are exhibited from Germany alone, around 250 from Austria, 550 from Italy and 100 or more from the important European and overseas countries. You can currently find sample panels from just over 100 countries.

The stock consists of uniform rock patterns in the format 24 × 15 × 2 cm. The archive records all available geological , geographical , petrographic , technological , cultural and commercial data.

In addition, the sample panels can also be viewed in the online database of the German Natural Stone Archive. The DNSA database contains around 4,800 pictures of natural stones and a unique range of specialist information.

The following can also be viewed at the DNSA:

The German Natural Stone Archive is not a publicly accessible museum, but generally only allows access to experts after prior notification or agreement. Consultations can be given in writing or by telephone.

Friedrich Müller (1923–2003) was the founder of the German Natural Stone Archive.
