Dev D is an Indian drama film directed by Anurag Kashyap in 2009. It was based on the novel Debdas by the Bengali writer Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay . The main actor Abhay Deol had the idea to turn the book into a film.

action

A misunderstanding destroys Dev's love affair with his childhood sweetheart Paro. While Paro leads a decent life, Dev falls into depression and takes alcohol and other drugs . He meets the prostitute Leni, with whom he falls in love. Dev slips deeper and deeper with his selfless behavior and ends up in the criminal scene, which makes it harder and harder for him to get close to his new love.
