Diamonds of Kilimandjaro (later also released on DVD as Mondo Cannibale 4 - Naked among the wild ; in the original: El tesoro de la diosa blanca , or Les diamants du Kilimandjaro ) is an adventure film by Jess Franco that is close to the exploitation genre and was published in 1983 in Spanish-French co-production emerged.
The lurid German film title Mondo Cannibale suggests a non-existent relationship with the subgenre of Mondo or cannibal films .
action
Africa , a jungle in the heart of the black continent. An expedition is captured by a wild tribe in search of treasure. The angry natives want to kill the intruders, especially expedition leader Payton. The situation seems hopeless when all of a sudden a half-naked white girl named Liana appears and saves the adventurer's life. The treasure hunters then return to civilization.
At home, Payton and his dodgy friend and colleague Pereira try to find the origin of the mysterious beauty. The bedridden Lady de Winter suspects that the 18-year-old girl could be her missing daughter, who - like the child's father - has been missing since a plane crash. Therefore, the terminally ill aristocratic lady finances an expedition to search for her supposed daughter, in which the greedy relatives Matthew and Lita should also take part. However, Matthew, a cousin of Liana, has his own goals with his younger wife. He wants to prevent Liana, the rightful heiress of the family fortune, from returning home and, if necessary, to murder her.
Rofo joins the expedition team around Pereira, Payton, Matthew and Lita as a local guide. Quarrels about the authority soon exacerbate the official mandate. It also becomes apparent that some expedition members are more interested in gemstones, which are suspected to be in the tribal area, than in the "white goddess". When the group finally reaches the remote tribal area, an expedition member shoots a native in cold blood. From then on, the intruders are hunted down and decimated by the priestess of the tribe.
At the end of the film, the remaining Pereira is murdered, although he has meanwhile become Liana's lover. Dan, Liana's father and chief of the tribe, kills the stranger in the belief that he has to protect his people, which is received with goodwill. The respected chief and white goddess remain in the wilderness as members of the tribe.

The 83-minute Spanish original version El tesoro de la diosa blanca was re-edited in France by the film production company Eurociné and provided with additional scenes, staged by actor Olivier Mathot . With the same actors, the film was extended by about twelve minutes.
Therefore there are two different versions with significant differences. The Spanish and French versions ( Les diamants du Kilimandjaro ), the latter being dubbed in English and German. The German dubbed version again differs from the French original in terms of the editing; for example, the plane scene was moved to a flashback .
