Dianne Ferreira-James

Dianne Ferreira-James (born November 3, 1970 ) is a former football referee from Guyana .

Ferreira-James began playing soccer actively in her school days. As an adult player, she was part of the selection of her country at times; In 1995 she played international matches against Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago . She was also successful as a cricket player and took part in international tournaments.

1997 Ferreira-James attended her first referee course; just two years later, in 1999, it received the FIFA certificate. In 2002 she was invited to the U19 Women's World Cup in Canada , where she was entrusted with leading the final between the USA and Canada after performing well during the tournament.

Two years later, she represented her association at the women's football tournament during the Athens Olympic Games . Here she whistled the group game between Japan and Nigeria and the semi-final pairing between Sweden and Brazil . She experienced the final of the tournament ( USA - Brazil ) on August 26, 2004 as the fourth referee on the sidelines. However, when the main referee, the Swede Jenny Palmqvist , injured herself at the score of 1: 1 shortly before the end of regular time, Dianne Ferreira-James took over the control of the game in extra time and brought it to an end.

At the 2007 World Cup in China , Ferreira-James directed two group matches. In 2008 she was nominated for the women's football tournament of the Olympic Games in Beijing, where she whistled, among other things, the preliminary round match Germany - North Korea (1-0).
