Jenny Palmqvist
Jenny Palmqvist (born November 2, 1969 ) is a former Swedish football referee .
Career
Jenny Palmqvist was born in South Korea , but grew up as the daughter of adoptive parents in Falköping, Sweden . At the beginning of her career she worked as a sales manager for an interior design company in Alingsås . On January 1, 2009 she became an employee of the Swedish Football Association and a professional referee. In 2012 she started working as a key account manager , from then on she was a professional referee on a part-time basis.
She directed her first games in 1996. A year later she was already whistling in Swedish Division 1 , the second division of Swedish women's football. In the Damallsvenskan , the first division, it was used from 1999. By the end of her career in 2014, she had 188 missions there. At the same time, she occasionally whistled men's games in the Swedish third division.
In 2002, Jenny Palmqvist received the FIFA certificate. She experienced a first career highlight in 2004 at the women's soccer tournament at the Olympic Games in Athens . Here she was entrusted with the final between the USA and Brazil . Twenty minutes before the regular end of the game, she injured her right foot. When after 90 minutes and an interim result of 1: 1 an extension was necessary, her colleague Dianne Ferreira-James took over the management of the game.
Until 2013, Jenny Palmqvist was invited to all major tournaments. In 2007 and 2011 she was a member of the FIFA referees' team at the World Cups in China and Germany. In 2009 and 2013 she took part in the European Championships in Finland and Sweden. In 2008 she was nominated for the women's soccer tournament at the Beijing Olympic Games, and in 2012 she was invited to the women's Olympic soccer tournament in London . At that time she was the only referee with three Olympic appearances alongside Kari Seitz . In 2009 she directed one of the two UEFA Cup finals between Russian champions Zvezda Perm and FCR 2001 Duisburg . In 2012, she whistled the final of the UEFA Women's Champions League between Olympique Lyon and 1. FFC Frankfurt in the Munich Olympic Stadium .
In addition, the associations often called Palmqvist for friendship and qualification matches, including on April 22, 2009 for the test match between Germany and Brazil in Frankfurt am Main , which temporarily set a new European audience record in women's football with 44,825 spectators. In October 2012, when she whistled for the European Championship qualifier between Austria and Russia , she played her 100th international game.
Jenny Palmqvist ended her career in autumn 2014. The last game she whistled was the friendly between Germany and France (0-2) in Offenbach on October 25, 2014.

Awards
In 2005, 2010 and 2011 she was named Referee of the Year in her home country . The International Federation of Football History & Statistics named Jenny Palmqvist World Referee of the Year in 2012 .
