Dick Boer

Dick Boer (* 1939 ) is a Dutch Protestant - Reformed theologian , university professor of Systematic Theology , author and speaker.

Life

Boer studied history and theology in Amsterdam . Frans Breukelman's biblical-theological seminars initially shaped his theological understanding and his exegetical work. With a religious-philosophical work on Karl Barth he became a doctor of theology doctorate . In Amsterdam he was lecturer for “History of Modern Theology in Europe” until 1999 . He belonged to the so-called Amsterdam School of Theology, which u. a. campaigned for a political reading of the Bible . The examination of the attitude of philosophers of the modern age such as Marx and Feuerbach critical of religion led him to believe in the proximity of a biblically attested humanity and the economic theory of Marxism . Boer was a member of the Christian Peace Conference and from 1973 until its dissolution in 1991 a member of the Communist Party of the Netherlands .

From 1984 to 1990 Boer was pastor at the Dutch parish in East Berlin .

The House of Democracy in Berlin declared in 1989:

“In view of the deep crisis in which the GDR found itself in November 1989, 31 intellectuals of various ideological and political origins turned to the citizens with the appeal ' For our country '. The Dutch pastor Dick Boer gave the impetus. "

Boer works on the scientific advisory board of the journal Das Argument , writes in the Dialog books, published in Studies in Theology and Religion .

Boer is a speaker at conferences and congresses where classical criticism of religion and social criticism communicate with one another - for example when dealing with the positions of the Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn .
