Didier Squiban (born September 23, 1959 in Ploudalmézeau ) is a French pianist and composer from Brittany . Coming from classical music and jazz , he is now an important musician in the modern Breton music scene, whose instruments he has enriched with the piano. His work is a combination of traditional Breton music, jazz improvisation and classical romanticism.

Since the late 1970s, his role models have included Duke Ellington , Keith Jarrett , Charlie Parker and Bill Evans, as well as Claude Debussy , Igor Stravinsky , Erik Satie , Darius Milhaud , Arnold Schönberg and Glenn Gould . In 1993 he became the accompanying pianist for the Breton singer Yann-Fañch Kemener on the successful tour " L'Héritage des Celtes " (The Heritage of the Celts), on which more than 70 musicians combined traditional Breton and modern music. So he found an intensive and audience-effective access to the music of his native Brittany. In 1997 he recorded his first Breton solo piano album, “Molène”, on the island of his ancestors, Molène.
