Die Alpen is a documentary film shot for IMAX cinemas about the ascent of the north face of the Eiger by John Harlin III, the son of mountaineer John Harlin, who died there in 1966 .

The American John Harlin III is returning to Switzerland after around 40 years , where he spent part of his childhood to climb the north face of the Eiger and learn about the death of his father, the mountaineer John Harlin, in 1966 get over this wall. He is supported by the mountain guide Robert Jasper . Irish actor Michael Gambon acts as the narrator of the film . Although the focus of the film is on the spectacular shots of the north face and its surroundings, it also shows excerpts from the childhood of John Harlin III.

Awards

The film won the 2007 Film Achievement Awards in the categories “Best Cinematography” and “Special Achievement in Filmmaking”.
