action

The Meier couple are so poorly furnished that even the bailiff goes away empty-handed. The tide seems to turn when a notary brings news of the inheritance of a home furnishings. While Karl goes about his work, his wife has the old furniture processed into firewood. When the new pieces of furniture are brought in, however, they turn out to be miniature furnishings. In the end it turns out that the inheritance was not intended for Meier with ei , but for Maier with ai , a short neighbor in the same house. After the furniture has been handed over, the Meiers only have their " chandelier " and a candle stub on a wire in their otherwise empty apartment.
