Die Kinderklinik (in Austria: Kinderärztin Angela ; original title: Amico mio ) is an Italian-German television series that comprises 14 episodes and was produced in two seasons.
action
The focus is on the everyday life of doctors and nurses in a children's hospital in Rome. The protagonist is the dedicated pediatrician Dr. Paolo Magri, who in the course of the series in his colleague Dr. Angela Mancinelli in love. Little Spillo, who is believed to be an orphan and is therefore urgently looking for a family, is also housed in the hospital. Spillo is taken in by Magri and Mancinelli as an adopted son. His birth father later shows up. As a result, a custody battle breaks out over the boy.
The fate of socially neglected children is often the focus of the episodes. Also controversial subjects like an infant suspected of being infected with HIV are not left out.
Background information
The first season of the series was shot in 1993 and consisted of eight full-length feature films. Five years later, in 1998, the producers decided on a second season. Katharina Böhm , who played Angela Mancinelli in season 1 , was no longer available and was replaced by Désirée Nosbusch . The second season consisted of only six episodes.
