Pierfrancesco Favino (born August 24, 1969 in Rome ) is an Italian actor .

Career

Favino has been in front of the camera in mostly Italian and European productions since 1991. His role in The Prince of Homburg (1997) and the 1998 miniseries Die Kinderklinik is well known . He was awarded Italy's most important film prizes, David di Donatello and Nastro d'Argento , both for his supporting role as a Roman criminal in Michele Placido's Romanzo criminale in the 1970s and for his portrayal of Giuseppe Pinelli in Marco Tullio Giordana's historical drama Romanzo di una strage .

In 2001 Favino embodied the role of Simon the Zealot in Jesus Legends: Judas and was first seen in a major Hollywood film in 2006 at Night at the Museum . Further appearances in Hollywood productions followed with The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian of Narnia (2008, as Generals Glozelle), Illuminati (2009, as Commander Olivetti), World War Z (2013, as director of the WHO research facility) and Rush - Everything for Victory (2013, as Clay Regazzoni ).

In 2012 he was appointed chairman of the jury for the Orizzonti series of the 69th Venice International Film Festival .
