action

Carlo and Giulia seem like the perfect couple. But when Giulia tells her boyfriend that she is pregnant, Carlo falls into a crisis of meaning. He fears his life will no longer hold any surprises in store. Carlos's friends are also afraid of the future: Paolo has been abandoned by his childhood sweetheart and does not want to take over the business of his dying father, bon vivant Alberto realizes that he has not achieved anything he once dreamed of, and Adriano leaves his wife to spare his son the eternal quarrels. Together they plan to travel through Africa in an old motorhome. In the end, however, only Alberto and Paolo go through with this plan, while Adriano turns back halfway to take care of his son. While Carlo doubts about starting a family, buying a house and marriage, he meets the 18-year-old student Francesca at a friend's wedding and shares his worries with her. Since she thinks he is about to leave his girlfriend, she starts flirting with him.

After Carlo initially resisted the temptation, he visits Francesca a little later and makes an appointment with her for a schoolmate's party. Carlo asks his friend Adriano to lie to Giulia and tell her that Carlo is out with him. However, when Paolo's father dies and Adriano and Giulia meet at Paolo's, Carlos is exposed to dizziness. Meanwhile, Francesca invites Carlo to spend the night with her. Carlo initially refuses and drives home. When Giulia confronts him with accusations and the argument finally leads to Giulia killing Carlo, Carlo finally returns to Francesca, and the two sleep together. The next morning, however, Carlo regrets this decision and tells Francesca that Giulia is pregnant and that he will return to her.

Carlo then visits Giulia at her parents' house, who have only just had a temporary separation behind them. After a long conversation with Giulia's father, who advises Carlo to fight for Giulia, Carlo assures Giulia that he only kissed Francesca and wants to spend the rest of his life with Giulia. The two make up.

Reviews

“[N] the abilities of the man behind the camera, also in front of the camera, are captivating those of the excellently selected ensemble, which harmonizes and plays so perfectly with each other that none should be singled out. Even if the playing time of almost two hours turns out to be a tad too long, “A Last Kiss” is definitely worth seeing, to which the finale, which consists of several excellent moments, also contributes. The film evaluation agency Wiesbaden awarded a last kiss the rating particularly valuable . The jury statement states:

““ The Last Kiss ”is what you would probably call a relationship comedy in Germany. But the film comes from Italy, and here comes, at least that's what the cliché wants, with love always comes with passion, sentimentality and high pathos. The story offers all this and much more, without ever falling into the flat cliché or at least not shedding light on its downside. "

Remake and sequel

In 2006, the American remake appeared The Last Kiss with Zach Braff and Jacinda Barrett in the lead roles. The film almost consistently takes over the plot of the Italian original, but with one crucial difference: while Carlo lies to Giulia in the final scene and pretends that there was only one kiss between him and Francesca, and that the two then reconcile, Michael Jenna confesses in the Remake after a moment's hesitation that he slept with Kim. Jenna then leaves her parents' house and locks herself in her own, in front of which Michael stays for days until Jenna finally lets him in.

In February 2010 the sequel Baciami ancora was published in Italy .
