Falcone - In the crosshairs of the Mafia (original title: Excellent Cadavers ) is an Italian television film by the director Ricky Tognazzi from 1999 and tells the story of the examining magistrate Giovanni Falcone during his fight against the Cosa Nostra . It is a film adaptation of the book of the same name by Alexander Stille .

Palermo, late 1970s: examining magistrate Giovanni Falcone declares war on the Cosa Nostra, while in most of Sicily the police and public prosecutor's office is corrupt, ignorant and even fearful. With constant mortal danger and regardless of political opportunity, he and the few supportive friends and colleagues like Paolo Borsellino consistently stand up to organized crime in his homeland. Falcone quickly made notable enemies and was the victim of a spectacular bomb attack in Palermo on May 23, 1992. His wife Francesca and three bodyguards died with him.
