history

Prins Henrik

The Prins Henrik was ordered from Nakskovs Skibsværft in Nakskov in July 1972 and launched on November 29, 1973 under construction number 203. After the takeover by the Danske Statsbaner on May 15, 1974, the ship began operating the ferry from Korsør to Nyborg .

In October 1980, the Prins Henrik arrived at its builder in Nyborg, where it was extended from 132.7 to 144.56 meters, which, in addition to increasing the tonnage, also increased the capacity for passengers and vehicles. On September 27, 1981, the ship returned to service and was henceforth in service on the route from Rødby to Puttgarden .

In January 1997, the Prins Henrik became the property of Scandlines . After almost another year in service, it was launched and offered for sale in Nakskov in December 1997 . From January 1999 the ship was in the port of Rødby.

Gioventu

In November 1999, the Italian Traghetti Isole Sarde found a new owner for the ferry, which was renamed Gioventu that same month . After the transfer voyage to Genoa in December, the ship was put into service on the route from Genoa via Palau to Porto Vecchio in June 2000 . From 2001, the Gioventu called at the ports of Porto Torres and Propriano .

After a short charter of the ship to Happy Lines , Traghetti Isole Sarde filed for bankruptcy in October 2002. The Gioventu was sold to another Italian owner the following month and transferred from Genoa to Palermo , where it was from then on.

Espresso Durazzo

After more than one and a half lay times, the ship was renamed Espresso Durazzo in July 2002 and put into service on the route from Bari to Durrës . In the following years the Espresso Durazzo changed hands several times before it was retired in 2006 and sold to India for scrapping. On April 11, 2007, the ship, renamed for the transfer in Esdresso Durazzo , arrived in one of the scrapping yards near Alang .
