The Art Medal in Germany , originally The Art Medal of the Present in Germany (Volume 1–3), is a series of publications on the art of the medal in Germany .

While the volumes were originally aimed solely at contemporary medal art in Germany, the content was later expanded to include the entire historical field of medal art.

The publisher is the German Society for Medal Art , partly in connection with coin cabinets such as the Münzkabinett of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin , the Kestner Museum Hannover or the Münzkabinett der Moritzburg (Halle) .

Content

Individual volumes are monographs on the work of well-known medalists such as Friedrich Brenner (Volume 29), Hilde Broër (Volume 20), Hans Karl Burgeff (Volume 9), Bernd Göbel (Volume 16), Peter-Götz Güttler (Volume 27), Johann Christian Koch (Volume 21), Jutta Osten (Volume 25) or Leonhard Posch (Volume 15). Other volumes are devoted to topics such as Goethe's medal collection (Volume 13), the Munich Artists' Circle of Medalists (Volume 18) and the winners of the Hilde Broër Prize (Volume 25).
