The men of the Golden West (original title: Heart of the Golden West ) is an American western from 1942 by Joseph Kane . The American cinema premiere took place on November 16, 1942.
action
Unscrupulous entrepreneur Ross Lambert doubled his prices for cattle transport without warning. The ranchers complain to James Barrabee, president of the ranchers association. Barrabee and his foreman, Roy Rogers, confront Lambert. He is aware that there are no alternatives to his truck transports and sticks to his exorbitant prices. Roy has the idea of transporting the cattle by ship, so Barrabee contacts the shipowner Silas Popen, who is traveling with his daughter Mary-Lou on his ship Southern-Belle .
Colonel Popen comes from the southern states and is terrified of everything that has to do with the Wild West : Indians , cowboys , raids and shootings. Unfortunately, Barrabee's telegram to Roy asking for a modest reception from Popen is intercepted by Lambert. So Roy welcomes the shipowner and his men in a very stylish western style, with country music. After Popen has overcome the initial shock, he receives another threatening letter with an Indian arrow. On the way to Barrabee's ranch, the carriage gets caught in a shootout staged by Lambert's men, in the course of which the carriage's horses run away. Roy can stop the horses, but Popen's interest in the contract with the cattle breeders is over. After Roy learns about the missing telegram from Barrabee, he rides into town and confronts Lambert. The scuffle ensues, in the course of which one of Lambert's men finally takes up a gun. Only through the courageous intervention of Mary-Lou, who actually only wanted to tell Roy that she wanted to convince her father to carry out the transports, the dispute is ended.
Lambert is now resorting to more drastic means. He lights the Southern Belle . Since all the cowboys help extinguish the ship, the herd of cattle is unguarded. Lambert's people steal the cattle.
After Roy and his cowboys have put out the fire, they go in search of the herd of cattle. These were hidden by Lambert in a canyon. By chance, Roy discovers Mary-Lou's abandoned car and suspects something bad: Mary-Lou was kidnapped by Lambert. In the search for the shipowner's daughter, there was a wild exchange of fire between the warring groups. Roy manages to free Mary-Lou and arrest Lambert. Popen signs the contract with the cattle breeders.
