Richard L. Van Enger

Richard L. Van Enger (born June 20, 1914 in New York City , † March 20, 1984 in Burbank , California ) was an American film editor .

Life

Van Enger started working in the field of film editing in 1939 as an assistant editor for Gone With the Wind . From 1942 he worked as an independent editor. Until 1957 he was mainly involved in movies, then until 1978 primarily in television series. In total, he was involved in more than 90 film and television productions. He has worked with the western director Joseph Kane for many years.

In the course of his career he has been nominated four times for the Eddie Award of the American Cinema Editors , three times for the Emmy .

The musical film Earl Carroll Vanities , for which Enger was responsible for editing, was nominated for an Oscar in 1945 in the category "Best Song" . In 1950, Enger was nominated for an Oscar in the "Best Editing" category for his participation in the film You Were Our Comrade .
