Paul Harvey (* 10. September 1882 in Sandwich , Illinois as Roy Paul Harvey ; † 5. December 1955 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Since 1915 he has acted in over 180 films, and he was also active as a stage actor. He often played comically boastful authority figures in comedies, for example alongside Laurel and Hardy in Horror of the Company and alongside the Marx Brothers in One Night in Casablanca . His broader roles also often included lovable fathers, doctors like in Alfred Hitchcock's I Fight for You or pastors like in Father of the Bride next to Spencer Tracy . From 1953, shortly before his death, he mainly only appeared in television series as a guest actor. His last film was The Ten Commandments , which was released in 1956.

He was married to Ottye until his death on December 5, 1955. He was previously married to Merle Stanton.
