The Romanovs: A Crowned Family ( Russian Романовы. Венценосная семья / Romanowy: Wenzenosnaja semja ) is a Russian film from 2000 about the last days of Tsar Nicholas II and his family. The Russian title means both the Tsar's Crown of Russia and the Crown of Thorns in reference to Christian martyrs .

The film describes the last 17 months of the last Russian tsar Nicholas II and his family. The plot begins on February 22, 1917 and ends in the early morning hours of July 17, 1918, the day the tsarist family was murdered by the Bolsheviks in the Ipatiev house in Yekaterinburg . The end of the film is about the canonization of Tsar Nicholas II and his family on August 20, 2000 by the Russian Orthodox Church .
