The Gorge of the Wolves (original title: “La boca del lobo”, translated “The jaws of the wolf”) is a film drama from 1988, which deals with the guerrilla war in Peru in the early 80s . The director was the Peruvian Francisco José Lombardi .

The film is set in the Ayacucho region from 1980 to 1983. The Maoist group Shining Path kills the commander of the Peruvian army unit stationed there near a small village in the Andes . The new commander of the unit is Lieutenant Roca, who considers the majority of the villagers to be sympathizers of the Shining Path. His actions against the villagers became more and more ruthless and brutal until Roca orders a massacre of the villagers. Only Sergeant Moncada rebelled against Roca. In the end, Moncada Roca invites you to play Russian roulette .
