action
Princess Odette, whose father King William rules a powerful kingdom, is born. William and Queen Ubertha from another kingdom decide to later marry Odette and Ubertha's son Prince Derek in order to unite the kingdoms.
Odette and Derek hate each other as children, but as adults they fall in love. However, Odette doubts whether Derek loves her not only because of her beauty. Meanwhile, Odette and her father are ambushed by the magician Rothbart while they are driving home in the carriage, who, transformed into a dragon, kidnaps Odette. Years earlier, Rothbart was banished by the king because he wanted to overthrow him. He had threatened the king that he would take all his possessions away from him when he had the strength. He turns Odette into a swan.
Derek then goes to look for Odette. Led to the Swan Lake, he learns that Odette is a swan and decides to break the spell by taking the vow of love. But this plan seems to fail when Rothbart tries to deceive Derek with a fake Odette (his assistant Bridget) and Odette is supposed to die as a result. Odette is locked in the dungeon, but is freed from the dungeon by her animal friends. In the meantime, the wrong Odette has arrived at Derek's castle. Odette can't prevent Derek from taking the vow with the wrong one. Rothbart then reveals to Derek that he took the vow with the wrong one. Odette flies back to Swan Lake and dies in Derek's arms. Finally there is a fight between Derek and Rothbart. He tries again to kill Derek in the form of a dragon, but he is killed by an arrow from a friend of Derek's. Odette comes back to life and they both eventually get married. They take the castle on the Swan Lake as their residence, which Rothbart once lived in.
