Diederrick Joel Tagueu Tadjo , called Joel , (born September 6, 1993 in Nkongsamba ) is a Cameroonian football player who has been playing for Marítimo Funchal in Portugal since January 2020 .

Career

societies

Joel played for the Brazilian Londrina EC from at least 2012 to 2014 . During this period he completed 28 league games for the club and scored ten times in the opposing goal. He was also used in six games of the Copa do Brasil and scored two goals. At the beginning of September 2014 he moved to Coritiba FC . The statistics show him eight goals in 20 league appearances at this career station. In mid-December 2014, he joined Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . In addition to 19 appearances (three goals) in the league, he was also used five times (no goal) in the 2015 Copa Libertadores . Since January 2016 he has continued his career at FC Santos , which loaned him out for a year in exchange for his salary. Joel played a total of 28 league games there, in which he scored five goals (Serie A: 16/2; Paulista A1: 12/3). He was also used seven times in the Copa do Brasil. In January 2017, Botafogo FR loaned him from Cruzeiro for a year. The loan ended early in June and Joel was loaned to Avaí FC . At the beginning of 2018 he was loaned out by the Portuguese first division club Marítimo Funchal . After the end of the 2018/19 season, Joel was supposed to return to Cruzeiro, but first traveled to the national team for the 2019 Africa Cup.

After Joel had to cancel his assignment at the Africa Cup because of heart problems (see national team), he was reintegrated into the Cruzeiro squad in September of that year. He had extensive examinations carried out and an operation carried out. On October 20, 2019, he returned to the 2019 championship in the away game against Corinthians São Paulo . Three more followed by the end of the season. At the end of December, Joel's renewed loan to Marítimo became known. The club took him over for free in August 2020 and provided him with a two-year contract.

National team

Joel was a member of both Cameroon's U-17 and U-20 teams. In 2018 Joel played his first international match for Cameroon's A selection . In the friendly against the Burkinabe national soccer team on May 27, 2018, he came on for Fabrice Olinga in the 67th minute . A year later, Joel scored his first international goal in a friendly against the Zambian national soccer team . In the game he was substituted on in the 61st minute, again for Olinga, and scored the goal in the 71st minute to make it 2-0 (final score -2: 1).

That year Joel was named to the squad for the 2019 Africa Cup , which began on June 21 in Egypt . On June 24th, it became known that the medical team had refused to use Joel. According to a report by Cameroonian team doctor William Ngatchou, Joel had an artery on the coronary artery anomaly that can be fatal during exercise.
