The Diehl Aerospace GmbH , headquartered in Überlingen ( Baden-Wuerttemberg ), works in the field of aircraft equipment, and is a joint venture of Diehl Group and the French Thales Group . The company has operated under its current name since 2006.
The company employs around 1,100 people in Überlingen, Frankfurt , Nuremberg and Rostock as well as in customer service centers in Donauwörth , Hamburg , Toulouse (France), Sterrett (USA) and Singapore , who generated sales of 362 million euros in 2017.
history
The company's roots lie in the Bodenseewerk and go back to the 1940s. The Diehl Aerospace was created from the merger of several companies: 2000 the regime division and navigation was initially the Bodensee Gerätetechnik (now Diehl BGT Defense ) in Ueberlingen with the VDO Luftfahrtgerätewerk in Frankfurt Diehl avionics systems merged and became the largest avionics equipment for civil and military aviation in Germany. In 2006 the company merged with Diehl Luftfahrt Elektronik (DLE) in Nuremberg, which had previously been in business as a cabin supplier, including lighting technology.
Diehl's predominantly civil aviation activities were bundled in 2007 in the newly created Diehl Aviation subgroup (formerly: Diehl Aerosystems). In addition to Diehl Aerospace , this also includes Diehl Aviation Laupheim GmbH (formerly: Diehl Aircabin) with headquarters in Laupheim , Diehl Aviation Hamburg GmbH (formerly: Diehl Comfort Modules ) in Hamburg and Diehl Aviation Gilching GmbH (formerly: Apparatebau Gauting (AOA )) in Gilching .
In 2014, Diehl Aerospace won the Crystal Cabin Award innovation prize for the first time with DACAPO® (Distributed Autonomous Cabin Power) in the Green Cabin, Health, Safety & Environment category for the presentation of the visionary concept of an energy-independent cabin. In 2017, the company again won this innovation award in the Cabin Systems category with the Power Line Communications for Aircraft competition entry, which promises less 'cable clutter': In the future, data streams can be reliably routed via the power cables already in aircraft.
Product range
The company supplies systems for flight control , cockpit and display systems, cabin and supply systems, cabin management systems, cabin lighting and safety, energy conversion and distribution, and engine control. Partners are major aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus , Boeing , Bombardier , Embraer and Airbus Helicopters . In the military segment, Diehl Aerospace is involved in cooperation with European partners in the development and series production of equipment systems for the Tornado , Eurofighter , Eurocopter Tiger and NH90 platforms .
Many products have been newly developed for new aircraft types from Airbus and Boeing. For the A380 , Diehl Aerospace is the supplier for the innovative electrical door control system, the cabin lighting and the high-lift control. Here and in the A400M military transporter , integrated avionics modules (IMA) and an Ethernet- based data network technology ( AFDX ®), developed in cooperation with Thales, are used for the first time . For the 787 "Dreamliner", parts of the flight control and, for the first time, a "full LED " cabin lighting system will be supplied.
