Diensthop ( Low German Dienshoop ) is a district of Dörverden in the south of the Verden district in Lower Saxony .

geography

Diensthop is located around four kilometers southwest of Dörverden; Because of the many surrounding forests , the village is a destination for hikers .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document as Dinshope in 1310 . The earlier settlement between 2000 and 1400 BC BC is proven by barrows found here.

In the area there are several Snedensteine erected in 1575 , which served as border markings between Verden Abbey , the County of Hoya and the Duchy of Lüneburg .

In 1938 bunkers were built in the Diensthoper forest in the direction of Barme as part of the Eibia powder factory .

At the time of the Cold War , to the northeast, near the town, was the on- site ammunition defeat service shop , in which nuclear weapons were also deposited.

On January 1, 1971 Diensthop volunteered to join the municipality of Dörverden.
