Dieter Buhl

Dieter Buhl (born January 14, 1935 in Dortmund ) is a German journalist who worked for three decades as a member and at times as head of the political editorial department of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit .

Life

After studying newspaper studies / journalism , English and psychology at the universities of Berlin (FU) , Münster and Vienna ( doctorate ), he received a scholarship from the World Press Institute, Saint Paul , Minnesota (1963–1964) and postgraduate studies at Macalester College , Saint Paul, and at the University of Minnesota and two sabbaticals (1980/1990) at Harvard University .

Dieter Buhl began his journalistic career at the Westfälische Rundschau Dortmund (1961–1963). The following further professional positions followed: BZ , Berlin, 1963, The Nashville Tennessean , 1964, and Springer International Service New York, 1964; From 1965 to 1969 he was political editor and head of department at the Westfälische Rundschau. From 1969 to 2001 Dieter Buhl was a member of the political editorial team of ZEIT in Hamburg, at times head of department and advisor to the chief editor.

In 1984 Dieter Buhl took on the role of Chancellor Helmut Schmidt in the English television production "Inside Europe"; In 1986 he developed the television film “A Man and His City” with Helmut Schmidt. He organized the “ZEIT flood relief” after the flood disaster in Eastern Europe in 1997 , which included reconstruction work in Zator, Czechoslovakia, and Wilkanów , Poland. In 2011 he founded the “Hörde Education Foundation” together with his wife Elke.

Dieter Buhl has been married to Elke, b. Waterman; he is the father of two children.
