Dieter Dorner
Dieter Dorner (born September 25, 1943 in Vienna ; † April 17, 2012 in the monastic republic of Athos , Greece ) was an Austrian radio presenter of the ORF and organic winegrower .
Career
Dieter Dorner studied acting and directing at the Academy for Performing Arts in Graz. In 1965 he founded and directed the Graz Young Theater. A year later, in 1966, he became a radio announcer at Radio Graz. Soon he was moderating the “Ö3 Wecker”, “Who knows more”, “Disc Ö3” and other programs.
From 1975 he was entrusted with the establishment of the first consumer editorial office " Help - Das Konsumentenmagazin " at ORF . After moving to Klagenfurt in 1981, he became head of the youth, society and family and religion departments at the Carinthian regional broadcaster ORF. He was entrusted with the task of expanding the first Ö3 local station in Carinthia .
In 1987 he became the main department head for entertainment and Ö3 program manager at the ORF in Vienna, in 1988 head of the working group of German-speaking entertainment channels in the European Broadcasting Union and chairman of the working group for traffic broadcasting ARD, SRG and ORF.
In 1992 he retired and only worked temporarily as a presenter at Radio Styria . For the program “ Fulfilled Time ”, which was broadcast every Sunday morning on Ö1 , he spoke the respective Sunday Gospel or the evangelical sermon text.
For decades he was personally very attached to the monastic republic of Athos . Dorner was baptized in Hilandar Monastery . When it was badly damaged by fire in March 2004, he organized an aid campaign for reconstruction.
Dieter Dorner last lived in Mureck and, among many other activities, was engaged in organic viticulture in the family's own vineyard in Sladki Vrh in Slovenia, not far from Mureck. His wife Helen is a doctor. The couple has four children.
