Dieter Drabiniok (born March 3, 1954 in Bottrop ) is a master bricklayer , former German Bundestag member and founding member of the Green Party .

education and profession

Dieter Drabiniok learned the profession of bricklayer and worked as a master bricklayer until he was elected to the German Bundestag in 1983 . After 1985 he was an employee of the parliamentary group of the Greens.

In 1986 he co-founded the Verkehrsclub Deutschland (VCD) and worked on the board of this ecologically- oriented interest group until 1990. In the following years he pursued changing jobs or was not gainfully employed. He has lived in Saarbrücken since 1991 .

politics

In 1980 Dieter Drabiniok was one of the founders of the federal party "The Greens". Along with Willi Hoss , he is one of the few workers among the party's public officials. His commitment applies above all to questions of transport policy and the promotion of environmentally friendly and resource-saving transport concepts .

He condemned the compromises made by a majority in the party on the way to assuming government responsibility, belonged to the " Fundis " camp in the dispute over the party line and withdrew from active politics after 1990, but is still a member of Greens.

In 1999 he took part in a call by former officials to the party to end the Bundeswehr's involvement in the Kosovo war in Yugoslavia .

In Saarbrücken in 2005 he was one of the founders of a citizens' initiative which, for ecological and financial reasons, opposes a road and urban planning plan in the area of ​​the banks of the Saar called “ city ​​center on the river ” .

Public offices

Dieter Drabiniok was elected to the German Bundestag on March 29, 1983 via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia and was a member of the first green parliamentary group there. He resigned as a member of parliament on March 31, 1985, following the rotation principle later abandoned by the party .

As a parliamentary group employee, he was a member of the “ Bundestag group ” of his party until 1987 . For the elections to the European Parliament in 1989 , he ran for 11th place in North Rhine-Westphalia.
