Dieter Heinz

Dieter Heinz (born January 4, 1930 in Saarbrücken ; † June 5, 2017 there ) was a German architect and conservator .

Dieter Heinz was the second son of Eduard Heinz , who was pastor at the Saarbrücken Ludwigskirche from 1921 to 1963 . After graduating from the Ludwigsgymnasium Saarbrücken in 1950, he completed a stonemason internship in the building works of the Ludwigskirche, which was destroyed in the war. From 1951 to 1958 he studied architecture with Otto Ernst Schweizer and Egon Eiermann and architectural history with Arnold Tschira at the University of Karlsruhe . He graduated with a degree in engineering .

While still at school, he created a reconstruction model of the Ludwigskirche in Saarbrücken, which is now in the German Architecture Museum. From 1953 to 1967 he worked out plans for the reconstruction of the interior of the Ludwigskirche, and he was also involved in the reconstruction of the Friedenskirche and the Baroque palace on Ludwigsplatz .

From 1958 to 1990 Dieter Heinz was the city of Saarbrücken's curator. From 1963 to 1988 he was editor of the Saarbrücker Hefte magazine . From 1980 to 1985 he held the office of second president of the International Siegfried Wagner Society .

From 1985 he taught at the Saarland University of Applied Sciences . From 1989 to 1995 he was a lecturer at the Saar College of Fine Arts , and from 1995 honorary professor for cultural history .

Honors

Dieter Heinz was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit on December 21, 1995 .
