Dieter Katte

Dieter Katte (born September 8, 1941 in Hischfeld in the Riesengebirge , Lower Silesia Province ; † May 25, 2016 in Munich ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman, theologian , homileticist and publicist. As head of the seminar for homiletics in the archdiocese of Munich and Freising , he trained several generations of pastoral workers in the field service.

Life

Growing up in Rosenheim , Katte studied philosophy and Catholic theology . After his ordination in 1966 by Julius Döpfner , he worked as a chaplain in St. Ursula (Munich) until 1968 . This was followed by studies at the Institute for Catechetics and Homiletics in Munich until 1970 . From 1970 to 1978 he was Subregens at the Munich seminary . In 1977 Katte did his doctorate with Alfred Läpple in Salzburg . Since 1970 he has trained the pastoral workers of the various pastoral services of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising in preaching, from 1978 as a lecturer, from 2005 as the head of the seminar for homiletics. He built up the seminar as a model of homiletic training, further education and training, which was further developed with the multiplier courses for homiletics that he initiated.

In addition to this task, Katte was from 1979 to 1986 student chaplain at the University of Applied Sciences for Social Education in Munich. From 1978 to 1987 he worked as a part-time parish vicar in the parish of St. Johann Baptist . From 1987 he worked in the St. Elisabeth parish in Munich- Haidhausen , from 1992 as a parish administrator.

In 2012 he retired.

Dieter Katte died in 2016 and was buried in the Rosenheim municipal cemetery.
