Dieter Schlenstedt
Dieter Schlenstedt (born August 30, 1932 in Blankenburg (Harz) , † May 27, 2012 in Berlin ) was a German literary scholar .
Life
Schlenstedt studied from 1951 to 1955 German . Then he was a lecturer in the workers and farmers faculty at the Humboldt University in Berlin . Between 1963 and 1966 Schlenstedt worked as an editor for the literary magazine Weimarer Posts . From 1966 he was a research assistant at the Central Institute for the History of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR , which was "wound up" in 1991. In 1991 he was elected the last President of the PEN Center (East) and was then a member of the PEN Center Germany . Schlenstedt received his doctorate in 1967 and was appointed professor in 1976 . In 1988 he was visiting professor at the University of Siegen , 1989 at the University of Massachusetts Amherst , and 1993 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison .
Dieter Schlenstedt was married to Silvia Schlenstedt , née Pollatschek.
