Dieter Schneider (born March 28, 1954 in Tübingen ) is a former German police officer . Until 2015 he was President of the State Criminal Police Office in Baden-Württemberg .

Life

Dieter Schneider grew up in Mössingen . After graduating from high school and doing military service with the paratroopers in Calw , he started in 1975 as a criminal investigator with the criminal police in Waldshut . In 1979 the training in the higher police service followed . In 1982 Schneider took over the capital offenses department at the Waldshut criminal police . From 1985 to 1986 he taught at the Police Command Academy in Münster . He was then used in various roles at the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office. Here he was head of the staff unit or head of inspection of the state security department before he was transferred to the Ministry of the Interior of the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1995. In the state police headquarters he was then responsible for combating organized crime and for special forms of crime.

He was appointed state criminal director in 1999. From 2004 to 2011, as inspector of the state police, he was also the highest-ranking police officer . From 2011 to 2015 he was President of the State Criminal Police Office.

Dieter Schneider is active in various committees. He is on the board of trustees of the University of Police in Baden-Württemberg and a member of the board of trustees of the German University for the Police. He is on the board of the Central European Police Academy and holder of the French Order of Merit Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Mérite .

Schneider is married and has three children. He is a runner and in 2008 co-founded the Athletics Association (LG) Steinlach. With the LG Steinlach he organizes the annual Mössing city ​​run.
