Dieter Senft (born April 30, 1962 in Mannheim ) is a German cultural manager and opera director.

Training and first professional activities

Dieter Senft studied musicology , art history and German at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg , with Ludwig Finscher , Dieter Borchmeyer and Herbert Schneider , among others .

After completing his studies, he initially worked as a cultural journalist in the Mannheim-Heidelberg area with a focus on theater and concert criticism. Senft also worked as the editor-in-chief of the Espresso restaurant guide - going out in the Rhine-Neckar triangle. Hessian State Theater and International May Festival Wiesbaden

From 2005 to 2010 Dieter Senft was director of the artistic company organization and member of the opera management at the Hessian State Theater Wiesbaden (director: Manfred Beilharz ). In this function he was also responsible for the organization and programming of the music theater program at the Wiesbaden International May Festival , in particular for the artistic design of the music theater program. At the same time, Senft was also the managing director of the Hessian Theater Commission with a focus on budget management / coordination of the Hessian Theater Days and theater cooperations . Opera director at the Stadttheater Gießen

From the 2010/11 season to the summer of 2015, Dieter Senft was employed as Opera Director and Artistic Operations Director at the Stadttheater Gießen ( Artistic Director: Cathérine Miville ) and made a name for himself above all with his unusual program design, which brought many music theater works that were believed to be forgotten back to the daylight. Another focus was on Hamburg Baroque operas, such as The Magnanimous Tomyris by Reinhard Keizer (2010) or The Unsuccessful Bride Change by Georg Philipp Telemann (2015). Furthermore, under Senft's Gießen opera direction, the world premiere of the new version for chamber orchestra of Alban Berg's opera Lulu by Eberhard Kloke (2012) and the German premiere of Peter Maxwell Davies were provisionally last opera fellow students!
