Dieter Weigel

Dieter Weigel (born April 17, 1932 ; † April 18, 2015 ) was a German Evangelical Methodist theologian , lecturer in practical theology and head of a free church seminar .

Career

After obtaining his university entrance qualification, Weigel studied Protestant theology in Leipzig from 1953 to 1958 . He then worked for the church historian Franz Lau as a research assistant . This was followed by preaching services in Methodist parishes in Dessau , Wolfen , Bitterfeld and Wittenberg . In 1960 he was ordained pastor of the United Methodist Church . Since then he has served as a pastor for nearly three decades. During this time he was commissioned to lead the basic theological course of the Evangelical Free Churches . From 1988 to 1992 he worked as a lecturer in practical theology at the Methodist seminar in Bad Klosterlausnitz . After that, until his retirement in 1997, he was pastor in Schmalkalden and Friedrichroda and head of the Eastern Methodist Church's education center.

Weigel was a member of the Christian Peace Conference and participant of the First All-Christian Peace Assembly , which took place in Prague in 1961 .
