Diethard Zils

Diethard Zils O.P. (* 1935 in Bottrop ) is a German Roman Catholic priest and religious in the Dominican convent of St. Boniface in Mainz .

He is known as a creator of beat masses as well as a lyricist and translator of new sacred songs , some of which have been included in the Catholic prayer and hymn book Gotteslob (GL) as well as in Protestant hymn books such as the Evangelical (EG) and the Mennonite hymn book (MG) and have been set to music several times by well-known composers. It is also represented several times in the current Swiss hymn books: in the KG with five texts and in the RG with one text.
