List of hymn translators
This is the list of hymn translators in alphabetical order. Many of her translations, transcriptions and adaptations have appeared in hymn books , but also in individual publications and collections. More detailed information can be found with the individual authors.
Hymn translations into German from the treasure of the world church ( apart from Latin ) did not take place until the 1970s. Conversely, songs from German have been translated into many languages since the Reformation and are an integral part of the hymn books in English (see, for example, Catherine Winkworth ) and in the Scandinavian languages .

- Otto Abel , born 1905, died 1977. Cantor and organist, regional church music director, publisher's editor. Transcriptions from French .

- Fritz Baltruweit , born in 1939. He is a pastor and songwriter initially in Garbsen in Lower Saxony , and since 1992 director of studies in a seminary in Loccum .

- Willem Barnard ( pseudonym for Guillaume van der Graft ) born in 1920. He suggested the new translation and rhyming of the Psalms . He lives in Utrecht .
- Adriaan Cornelius den Beste also known as Ad den Beste , born in 1923. In addition to the new composition of songs, he is also involved in the new translation and rhyming of the Psalms . He lives in Amsterdam .

- Eugen Eckert born 1954. Pastor at the JW Goethe University, copywriter and leader of the Habakuk music group . Lives in Frankfurt am Main . - Caspar Ulenberg , born 1549, died 1617, convert, pastor in Kaiserswerth and Cologne. With Die Psalmen Davids in all sorts of German hymns (1582), commonly known as "Ulenbergs Psalmen", he created the most important Catholic psalm poetry of the 16th century. It remained the most popular collection of psalm songs among Catholics until the 19th century.
