Dietmar Beetz

Dietmar Beetz (born December 6, 1939 in Neustadt am Rennsteig ) is a German book author . His work mainly includes detective novels and other predominantly fiction works , including radio plays and children's books .

Life

Dietmar Beetz was born in Neustadt am Rennsteig in 1939 and studied medicine at the University of Leipzig and the Medical Academy in Erfurt from 1957 to 1963 . He then worked from 1965 to 1966, initially as a ship's doctor and, after completing his training as a specialist in dermatology, as a company doctor . In 1973 he worked temporarily in Guinea-Bissau . Further stays abroad took him to Angola , China and Vietnam . His experiences abroad have influenced the content of some of his books, albeit without direct autobiographical references.

In 1998 he was awarded the German Medical Association's literature prize for his children's book “Rhinos Reise” and “Kurzschluss im Hirnkasten” . For a few years he published his books independently from established publishers under the name Edition DB , which was also open to other authors. So far he has written more than 50 German-language books.
