Dietmar Pfeifer (soccer player)

Dietmar Pfeifer (born April 22, 1940 in Chemnitz , † September 17, 2010 in Wismar ) was a German soccer player and soccer coach who coached FC Carl Zeiss Jena in the GDR league .

Athletic career

The qualified sports teacher, who played in the youth teams of SC Karl-Marx-Stadt and SC Rotation Leipzig during his active time in the 1950s and 1960s , began his coaching career in Mecklenburg with SC Traktor Schwerin . After stints with the juniors of FC Carl Zeiss Jena , in Ghana , Ethiopia and India , Pfeifer was again a junior coach in Jena in 1983 . There he replaced Hans Meyer as coach of the league team during the season of the GDR football league 1983/84 after eight days without a win. Pfeifer led the team from penultimate to tenth place in the table, but was replaced by Lothar Kurbjuweit after the following season start failed with only one win in the first six games .

Between 1987 and 1990 Pfeifer coached TSG Wismar in the Rostock district league , which he graduated as champion in 1989, but failed in the promotion round to the GDR league . Until his death in September 2010, Pfeifer was involved in the state football association of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as a speaker in the education committee. There he was responsible for the training and qualification of trainers up to the C license.
